Maximum Run: Micro Spray Stake Assemblies with Pressure Compensating Drippers

When combining Micro Spray Stake Assemblies and Drippers, there are two approaches that fit most circumstances. As a general rule, anytime drippers are installed, we highly recommend the use of a 25 PSI Pressure Regulator (MLD-25PR). This holds true, even when Micro Spray Stake Assemblies and/or Mister Risers are being used. This approach offers enough flexibility for most garden or landscape irrigation needs. But, if you desire to run Micro Spray Stake Assemblies and/or Mister Risers at higher pressures (40 to 50 PSI), the system needs to be split using a 1/2-in Tee Fitting (MLF-34). In this way, the part of the system using micro sprays will be functioning at a full 40 to 50 PSI, while the other part of the system running drippers will be functioning at 25 PSI. Here are the steps for both methods.
Micro Sprays & Drippers at 25 PSI
At the faucet, after installing the Backflow Prevention Valve, connect the 25 PSI Pressure Regulator (Fig. A). Next, we recommend installing a filter (Fig. B). Lastly, connect the 1/2-in Poly Faucet Fitting (Fig. C).
Now connect the 1/2-in Poly Tubing and run it through your landscape or garden, installing Micro Spray Stake Assemblies and/or Mister Risers as desired (Fig. D). Install up to 300 feet of 1/2-in Poly and up to 32 Micro Spray Stake Assemblies or Mister Risers.
When incorporating pressure compensating drippers, the maximum number of micro sprays will be reduced. The more drippers added, the lower the maximum recommended number of Stake Assemblies or Mister Risers. As an easy guide, each Stake Assembly or Mister Riser is equal to five 2 GPH Pressure Compensating Drippers, ten 1 GPH Pressure Compensating Drippers, or twenty .5 GPH Pressure Compensating Drippers (Fig. E). Use this formula when determining how many Stake Assemblies or Mister Risers to remove.
Micro Sprays & Drippers on a 25 PSI and 50 PSI Split System
After installing the Backflow Prevention Valve as before, connect the 50 PSI Pressure Regulator (Fig. A). Next install a filter and 1/2-in Poly Faucet Fitting (Fig. B).
Now connect the 1/2-in Poly Tubing and run it to the location at which you wish to split the system. Next, connect the 1/2-in Poly Tee Fitting (Fig. C). In one direction, run a line of 1/2-in Poly Tubing with Micro Spray Stake Assemblies or Mister Risers. In the other direction, run a short piece of 1/2-in Poly Tubing—6 to 12 inches—then connect the 1/2-in Poly End Cap Fitting (Fig. D). Remove the end cap and install the 25 PSI Pressure Regulator, a filter, and a 1/2-in Poly Hose Fitting (Fig. E). Lastly, connect and continue the second line of 1/2-in Poly Tubing, installing drippers as desired.
Alternatively, a “Y” fitting could be installed at the faucet. Connect the 50 PSI Pressure Regulator to one side and the 25 PSI Pressure Regulator to the other, splitting the system.
Maximum Micro Spray Pot Stakes with 1/2 in Poly as the main line
To ensure the maximum efficiency of your system you need to know how many drippers will fit on a 1/2-in line of Poly Tubing for the micro sprays and drippers to work effectively. The directions below will help you utilize your system to help your plants get the water they need.
